It was suggested in class that Hamlet should be converted into the new medium of video games to appear more relevant to generation y. This made me start thinking about what elements of videos games may add to the ability to tell stories in ways that traditional analog media cannot. Here are some ideas:
-video games often have physical reality divided into different "levels" with various imagery, characters etc. Why not take this idea further and create levels that correspond to each characters mind, with their inner conflicts taking place. Basically, have a physical representation of ideas, emotions etc...
-players of the game could rather than controlling a particular character, could play as outside forces: for example, from the point of view of fate, hope, temptation etc.. and exert specific types of influence over character
-games often represent physical and mental attributes for their characters numerically, this could be extended to show in a non-traditional way, how an environment influences a characters actions.
