I wanna be made...

Today I stopped at my friends’ room in Kelly after getting food to say hi. I didn’t stay for long because I had to go back to class but we were sitting down for a little watching the MTV show called Made. For those who’ve never seen the show, it’s a reality series that takes regular teens who are kind of losers or at least an extreme at whatever role they play. For example, a football jock, a tomboy, a diva, etc. They’re picked to become the opposite of exactly what they are…example, the diva will become a UFC fighter or the tomboy tries to turn into a super model. It shows the beginning where they’re given challenges by their coach, but as time goes on, it starts to get annoying and difficult. Basically, almost every single show goes through the same sequence of events. They get chosen and it’s a big surprise, they find out what they have in store for them and they fight it. They hate their coach, they go against their tasks and they create a big scene that generally ends up with crying or cursing or walking out. Then there’s an intervention where they talk it and out and get to the root of their problems, and then they become willing to try and accomplish their goal of becoming whatever they set out to be. I believe this follows Aristotle’s Poetics very much and it includes all of the elements.
