Is destiny making our lives or do we make the destiny?

In Oedipus, seems like the destiny plays big roles here. The fate of Oedipus has been set by god, Apollo. Whether Oedipus agrees to the belief in fate or not, his life follows the steps that Apollo had made for him. Apollo never forced him to go in to certain way, but Oedipus decided to go to that road with his free will. And later he finally fulfills his destiny that he would end up kill his father and married to his own mother.

Because we live in such a materialistic world, we are not accustomed to believe our lives are ruled by higher force. However, I personally believe that there are two kinds of a fate that has been made for us and the fate that we can build on. By means, the big blueprint of our live are already made in for us, but the details of it is our part to create. Like Oedipus, he was abandoned and eventually married to his mother and murderer of his own father, but before that he had choice not to go back to his own hometown. He chose his fate to be that way, and marked the ending of his fate.

Everything around us are balanced, if there is a water, there is always a good amount of heat. When there is a winter, soon the summer come. Even the small compound that we learned in Chemistry has balanced equation. Likewise it is us to balance our equation of fate. It is matter of how well we balanced.
