Mimesis

According to Aristotle, Mimesis is a key ingredient of poetry. All the poems are written either praising or criticizing some behavior, activity or person. Hardly we come across poems that are pure work of isolation. Even in fictitious poetry we can find hints of mimesis.

Isn't our daily life full of Imitation. Right from early years of our lives we are given the lesson of GOOD vs BAD. We are asked to avoid Bad and accept Good. And always the Good is adjoined with some noble person and Bad is associated to some evil soul. We are given examples of good people from whom we are suppose to take inspiration. And we do that also. How many times have we thought of another person before starting any activity. For e.g. before our first cigarette we all thought "What will Mama and Pappa think?"

And we also assign some role models for ourselves. Like megabuck businessman, sports-person, movies starts etc. We try to imitate them.

So our lives are full of imitation of other people just like the poetry.
