Curate NYC

Check out this art contest. New York City is spending $40,000 on the contest, Curate NYC, in an attempt to fuel artistry and to rejuvenate the troubled economy. This is great. With the troubles on wall street and in the job market people keep focusing on wall street executives getting bonus checks and unemployed businessmen (don’t get me wrong it is terrible that there are unemployed businessmen) but nobody seems to be focusing on the troubles of people who make their living as artists.

In the contest 150 winners will have their artwork printed on 5-inch by 6-inch postcards to be displayed in New York City. That has got to be awesome and an amazing way to network for an artist. With art it is all about who gets to see your work and if they want to see more of it. If someone sees your name on a postcard that could be the difference between someone interested in collaborating with you on something and buying a piece and not selling anything.

Check out the contest!
