I'm a big movie guy, and The Matrix trilogy is up there on my list of favorites. The main character, Neo, was brought in by Morpheus because of "the prophecy." The prophecy was that "the one" will save humanity from the killer machines and A.I. that rule the matrix. For those of you who have never seen The Matrix, what I just said probably means nothing to you. The short version is, the prophecy was true and Neo was the one and saved humanity.
The prophecy that Oedipus tried hard to make not happen eventually was fulfilled. Everyone was skeptical that Neo was "the one" but he proved them wrong. This just shows that there is no escaping a prophecy. It will eventually happen (at least that's what I believe)
