Today in class we were looking at spaces of bathrooms that were very simplistic, very "minimalistic." I mean there was bathtub that was simpler than most of our bathtubs going for at least $20000. Why is this? It's because of the name that's stamped onto the materials. This is true about everything. Watches, pocketbooks, clothes, even food.
When you walk into a food store, there's always two of the foods that you are looking for; one is the name brand and the other is the store brand that is almost 50% less than the brand name. Most people get the name brand whether they think it is better or because they don't want to look cheap. Another instance is when you're in a coach store and you see bags for $500 but when you go into Chinatown and see the exact same bag except without the stamp on it for $20.
From far away you can't see a difference at all. The material looks the same and even the texture. But usually when you look up close you see the differences and the touch of it is definitely unique. The bathtubs texture we were looking at supposedly felt like our skin, but does that really mean it should be 75% more than our regular bathtubs?
