Entitlement or Hard Work?

Today in class we discussed whether or not each of us are entitled to live the lifestyle of the rich and famous. The conversation got heated quickly as two points of views were stated. Some felt that we are in fact entitled to such privileges, where as others believed that we aren't entitled to anything, rather we work hard in order to earn these luxurious items. Personally, I would have to agree with those who say that hard work is what leads us towards these items. However, sadly, this isn't always the case. There are plenty of people in this world who are born into such a lifestyle and are granted such items without ever having to lift a finger. These individuals are lucky enough to have had family members that worked hard for them, and as a result, they get to experience the aftermath of their success. This proved to be true for Hamlet, who himself was born int a wealthy, royal family and had everything handed to him on a silver platter his entire life. Due to his royal lifestyle, hamlet was used to having people do everything for him, including having others make important decisions for him. Even his decision to seek vengeance wasn't made by him. His father, who appeared to him as a ghost, asked him to destroy his uncle and seek revenge. Due the entitlement he received he lacks the ability to do much. His inabilities prove that hard work, no matter how stressful or frustrating, is far more beneficial in the end, as opposed to the shortcut, in achieving success.
