http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcDlnaY9d9w

This is another video clip of
The scene with Gertrude and Claudius.

I was impressed by their acting!
and the costume and image of the characters were interesting.
it was nice

These are the pictures of the last performance.
I could feel the enthusiastic atmosphere of the actors and actresses.
Although it was a pretty long play, they made it enthusiastic and interesting.
Their acting was nice.
After this performance, I somehow thought about the movies like , etc....
and my dream to be a voice actress when I was young....

I memorize lyrics first and then the notes.
I don't do that on purpose, it just is.

It is because I focus more on the story the song is telling rather than the melody, I think.
I love songs with lyrics that makes me think about a whole story of the song.
There is my favorite song that reminds me of a scene someone is standing in front of a door his lover lives in, and just cannot go in because of a reason.
and at the chorus part, it reminds me an image of pouring rain to the scene.

I like this kind of songs.....
the melody goes well/ matches well with the atmosphere of the story.

That's why I like the ost musics of dramas and musicals I think
Because they reminds me the scene and the story clearly

Finding faces

How many faces did you find in the picture?
I think I got eight of them.

Observing is a very necessary skill, I think.
When you draw, read, hear, see, or write, you need this ability.

The one who can observe better can recall better, catch the characteristic better
so write a creative and unique line about what people usually miss in the same thing.
Even when we watch TV drama or a movie,
some people who observe well watch more things while others miss those things
and can enjoy it much more.
They catch the symbols and foreshadows in the story......!

Reading Sartre

"Man is nothing else but what he makes of himself."

This is what Sartre said.
I read his reading recently and very impressed by the idea of
a man makes his own future and is responsible for his choices.
It seems pretty simple but I think I've forgotten this.

After I read it, I finally could see there are countless ways that I can choose.
I was always worried about which field I should work in or which field I have talents in. However, I finally found out that I don’t have to follow the way I seem to be good at or more like to success in.
Even if there’s a way that I think I cannot be so successful, if I choose to take it, the way becomes my way. No one force me to follow the easiest way and there is no way that I should follow.

I suddenly could feel very energetic and hopeful thinking that I can be anything that I want to be.

after the last class

It was my first semester here in Stony Brook, and I'm going back to Korea a few weeks later.
I means it was my first and last semester here.

I could make most and best friends in this course. (THR104)
While we do the group projects and the game,
we talked and get to know each other.
All of you are so nice !

and I'm so sad I would barely see you from now on because I have to go back to my home university.
Visit Korea and Ewha University someday.
I want to introduce you some nice places and foods of Korea!! :)
I'm gonna miss Stony Brook and this class...!

How I knew the truth about Santa

Christmas is coming and I would like to tell you how I knew my Santa was actually my parents.

Most of my friends knew it by themselves - from their friends or seeing their parents sneak into their room with the presents.

But in my case, my parents revealed the truth all of a sudden!
I still don't know why they decided to tell me the truth.
I believed and never doubt that Santa was coming on the christmas day.
However when I was 9 years old, my parents called me and handed a sheet of a paper.
On the sheet was written about the origin of Santa clause and how the tradition started.
I was so shocked and cried.

My grandmother always told me that she used to contact with Santa and that's why he knows exactly what I want for christmas, and it was all lie !

I have a younger sister who is 9 years old this year.
She still believes in Santa and my parants seem to be worry about revealing the truth again...
But I don't recommend that way to tell her....

about Korean Education

In Korea, most of the classes that students take in elementary, middle, and high school are almost one-sided.
Many of instructors point out students can only listen and write down what their teachers tell them from textbooks and actually have no opportunity to discuss or express their own opinion in classes. I also did.
The most exams asked us to answer in multiple choices not our explanations or opinions. In other words, it is a very typical case of traditional education. So it took some time to get use to speaking in classes and writing my own opinion in university, although still they have most classes in teach-and-listen system.
Since I don’t have many experiences of my own, I get confused and don’t know how to manage it when the situation goes different from what I expected. So I think I need to have more chances to practice what I learn so that I can see how it works in real world and handle those situations wisely.
I think Korean educational system needs to combine both traditional and progressive. I mean, while students learn from listening what teachers say, they also should have chance to have their own voice and practice to write, speak -> share their opinion with other people.

future dream

I am interested in musicals, plays.
Recently I got new interests in projecting, directing and marketing stage performances.
For example, I want to import great stage performances in Broadway and perform them in Korean, and also export our original performances to other countries.
To do the job in the future, I think it’s essential for me to actually visit broadway, experience and understand about the fields, not only understand the texts.

This is my first time visiting USA and of courses I had never been to Newyork city.
I reserved for four musicals while I stay here.
I'm very looking forward to it....!

in my diary

From my diary..
It became weired after I translated it into English... ;-( BUT...

2009.12.19 Saturday 00:25

All wants to run away from the rain drops
when it starts to rain.
But if it pours,
it rather feels good when we are all wet like we're in a shower booth.

I wonder why.

Where is the line between them?
From where we can enjoy what we wanted to get away from?

If we success to get there,
that hard thing would be done by itself in a minute, very easily.

That's not easy
to get there.

Diary

Do you keep a diary?
I keep one. and sometimes I'm surprised about what I wrote in the past.
As time goes by, I forgot all the feelings about some events and decisions I made.

When I write something on my diary, I can reflect on myself.
I write most when I regret about something or when I'm so tired.
Writing about it soothes my mind and help me not to repeat the same mistake againg in the future.
If you don't write about the thought when it comes into your mind,
it is not only developed or organized, but you forget about it soon.

Reading the diary is also enjoyable.
You can look over what you did in the past... and recollect the memories....

Optical Illusions

I want to introduce some fun optical illusions !

All the squares seem to line in one big spiral.
But if you look at this picture closer, you can see there are many circles with squares and
they are not connected to each other.

This is just a painting not a moving image.
But it somehow seems like moving.

This is also a painting which looks like there is a wace on the picture.
But actually it's not moving.

The white dots between the squares blink black and white.
But it's optical illusion.

I took some photos of the performances we did on Saturday.

This is Hamlet's monologue and

the scene of conversation between Hamlet and Ophelia.

Our group worked on the same part of the play (we knew it while we watch the performance)

and I think this means that scene (with Hamlet and Ophelia) is the best part of Hamlet that shows the relationship well between Hamlet and Ophelia.

Ophelia looked confident and powerful. It felt different but nice.

Husky Express (3)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCNJbCx7X-U

This is the trailer of the game, Husky Express I posted.
Husky Express is peaceful and relaxing game
with beautiful views and interesting story plot.

Actually, aslo In Korea, many people want to play sensational, speedy, violent games
such as 'Sudden Attack' the shooting game which is thrilling and vilolent, and 'Cartrider' the speed racing game.
However I prefer less competitive and relaxing games like Husky Express.
I like the theme story of the game.

Husky Express (2)

I captured some of the scenes of the game I told you in the fore post - Husky Express.

The view of the snow field is beatiful and different as we go to other places.
All the villages has its own unique landscape.
This scene in the picture was taken in front of a village that has many purple roses aroung the palce.

There lives many winter animals which can bear the cold weather. (Because it is always covered with snow in the game)
But they don't attack the players and also you don't have to kill them (different from the other games that we have to). But you can take pictures and sell it to the collecter in the game.

You can also enjoy the speed of riding the sled.
If you are a skilled player, you can upgrade your sled much faster than others.
The speed also depends on how well you trained your dogs.

Many characters around the map give you quests. And as you complete the mission, you earn informations about the dark group that has been a secret and get closer to the truth.
So generally, you can preced the story with doing those missions they give you.
It's fun!

Husky Express

There is an online game named ‘Husky Express’. This is one of many Korean online games. You ride on a sled on the field covered with white snow and visit many villages to trade products. Every villages sell different things and you can bring it to another village and earn money for selling things from other places.
The game has a big story – the player learn how to ride to get the license, talk with many people and get to know there is a secret behind the snow covered world. The game gives you many quests to do and if you complete the mission, the story steps forward step by step and get closer to the secret while your character becomes skilled and strong.
I like this kind of game that has an attractive story behind it. I’ll post the print screen of the game soon.

Belief and Thought ?..

I think that we have a thought and belief those are incompatible.
I brought up the topic about the relationship between body and mind in the conversation (whether mind can be separated from the body or not, whether a soul exists or not), with my Korean friends. Everyone had some kind of thought and belief about the issue. We talked about souls, afterworld, science and brains.
The result was very interesting. Most of us agreed on we have incompatible thought and belief at once. It means that we admit that the thinking process and personality is something happens in the brain physically and chemically and can be explained by science – so if there is no brain, there is nothing. But we also have a belief that the dead people do not just disappear or gone as if they ever existed, but we believe they would watch us all the time and help us from somewhere. And there exists mysterious and spiritual things that cannot be explained by scientific theories or experiments.
For short, although we know that mind is something controlled by the brain, we still want to believe that mind is not just mortal and can be separated from the body. It sounds very strange but we do.

A Doll's House

I took a course called Understanding of Play/Theater when I was in Korea. At the end of the semester, we held a show performing what we prepared during the semester. Our team played a shorten version of A Doll’s House.
We decided to play Nora with two actresses - one for the Nora who was a weak and passive housewife in the front part of the play, and second player for the Nora who decided to live her own life leaving her house.
The first actress put a make-up like a pretty doll not a human girl – with long eyelash, pink cheeks, and high hills. The second girl is generally looks like the first one –because they are same girl, Nora – but she wears sneakers. We wanted to show the change of her inside – to an independent, smart woman.
We also changed the angle of the stage (we moved all the furniture slightly out of the straight) in the last scene that Nora leaves her house, to show Nora’s perspective of the world changed. It is the same room, but everything looks different from the last time.
