Hamlet
So today we tried out the project on the walls of the handball courts. I have to say it really was cool to say the least. The video feed was not set to fit with the scene it was just the videogame character looking up at the sky or out into the back round which wasn't a bad thing because then u focused a lot more on the actor. It did strange feel to it.. obviously Hamlet is a lot about death and then the background is this blown up city that the character is walking around. I think the lack of back ground really brought up the importance of sound and how sound brings you into the scene. I know for me it really brought these scene to... a new level when the actor has this monologue and is suddenly yelling over gun fire in the background. This was a small room and had terrible acoustics but i think that's what made the gun fire sound so much better. I wasn't hearing it from the stage is was as if i was in the room with this happening. I think the sound needs to become a much larger factor. This whole idea is suppose to make the participant feel like they are there part of the scene and sound brings that to a new level. We watch things on television all the time and the tv might change but most of the time the sound and where its coming from is always the same. having the the sound bounce around the room was pretty wild. also small every day sounds that people take for granted would be a great help. example would be the chit chatter of a room full of people and hearing them as they walk around in the room. The shadows from the actors was a little off setting the only thing i can thing of is to have the projects much higher and moving the actors forward but either way this was really an awesome idea
