In class last week it was mentioned that guys like video games and girls don't because we think differently. I suppose that's true because I really hate most video games. I really miss Super Nintendo and N64 though. I like playing games to keep me occupied for a little while, but I never understood why guys would sit around for hours just playing games constantly.
I thought it was funny that in class someone mentioned that guys like the games because you can shoot things and get shot at in war, but it's not really happening and there are no consequences. It makes me laugh because my boyfriend hates video games, but wants to be a Marine and be in war. I found it a little ironic that he's the opposite of what I assume is a common thought about why people like video games. That may just be a particular characteristic of some people; where living vicariously through a game is enough to satisfy a need as opposed to really needing a physical experience in order to be satisfied. I guess that's also why some people like things like secondlife where they are living vicariously through an avatar and don't have to bother leaving the house to interact with people.
