Women Coping With War
I think women cope with war by creating a second world for themselves and their families. By constantly thinking positive about their husbands and pretending their children’s father is just on vacation. Women’s solution to dealing with stress by seeking support from others and to express their emotions. Women depend on each other for support and create systems to express their feelings. Even though they express their feelings to each other, they still keep their feelings away from their children. They have to show a strong front to them to keep them calm and positive while thinking of daddy being a big strong man in the war. In Onibaba the women are left in a land which has been ravaged by war. They are left to find their own solution to their terrible problems in the world. They need to eat, bathe, sleep and figure out what to do tomorrow. In those days, a woman was nothing without a husband. It was torture to be torn from their husband because they are nothing without them.
