Poor Polonius

Now as I go back and re-read parts of Hamlet to hone and perfect my groups final project, I know see that Polonius was actually the one who came up with the plan that in the end got him killed.

Some may say that Polonius was doing the right thing, but I beg to differ. It seemed to me as though Polonius was a “tattle tale” when he ran to King Claudius and Queen Gertrude to tell them that their son still had feelings for his daughter Ophelia. Regardless, while he was meeting with the King and Queen he came up with the idea in which he would spy on Hamlet while hiding behind a curtain to see Hamlets true feelings about the matter at hand.

While Polonius was hiding behind the curtain, Hamlet thought that it was his evil Uncle Claudius and stabbed the curtain like mad. Little did Hamlet know that it was actually his ex-girlfriend’s father who he had killed in cold blood and not his step father/Uncle.

I think it is safe to say that if Polonius had not been so eager to interfere with his daughters love life and run to tell the King and Queen every little detail and show them poems and letters that Hamlet has written, it would have spared his life.
