Aaron D. Neufeld- BLOG #32- ‘New Public is the Old Private’

The new public is the old private. In the 20th century, everyone was worried about keeping his or her information locked away at home in the closet or away in a vault at the local bank. Little bits of information like someone’s birthday or the photos you took with your family at the Thanksgiving dinner would be impossible for others to access. However, in today’s world, anyone can find that information out in just seconds by accessing your facebook page! If you don’t have your photos or personal information posted, you’re far behind! You can be considered weird for not sharing your personal information!

Everything in my life has to do with social media. Friends and family across the globe can connect on social media sites like facebook and twitter. Status updates allow us to tell the world what we are thinking, where we are and what we ar doing. Macs allow us to screen-share and share information simultaneously with others. Video chatting and live streaming online allow us to share photos, information, video, etc. with the world!

The information we all once tried incredibly hard to prevent from going public, we now would even pay a service to make it public! The new public is the old private.
