The Hamlet Skin: Character Names
To match the global era, I decided not to use any of the actual Hamlet names, as they sound too classical. Yet, I picked names of politicians with certain characteristics that represent the actual Hamlet characters. For instance, I used Claudius as Dick Cheney, to show my assumption about his character that he is the one that has ACTUAL control over the decisions that presidents makes, for instance, Bush or Obama. Laertus, who gets manipulated into Claudius' plan, is labelled as George W. Bush, as he has a characteristic to directly show force against the others, and also has a not too intelligent level of decision making, as the public knows. Polonius, then, of course is George Bush, the older president, Laertus inherits the throne after his death. Gertrude is Al Gore, Al Gore has been ranked one of the least intelligent politicians of all time, and also South Park made fun of him, where he is trying to be too nice to people who show minimum kindness to him. Lastly, Hamlet, is Kim Jung-il, the dictator of North Korea. Hamlet, throughout the drama, shows his objectives very clearly, to revenge for his father, yet, he seems to lack an organized procedure to his plans. Kim Jung-il, the dictator, is exactly like that. He seems to want to sustain his country and his throne, while looking still strong, yet his only international interactions are bombarding of South Korea and development of Nuclear Plants, where people actually have to come and "babysit" them.
