The movie, "Thank you for Smoking"

In this movie, Nick is an eloquent speaker who insists and proves the other person standing opposite site to him is wrong, rather than arguing he(Nick) is right. Therefore he makes people to think as what he wants. In other words, he leads the change of the way that people think, and he captivates the people with an eloquent speech. According to Nick, he argues that the individual choice is the focus of attention rather than focusing the fact of a cigarette is harmful to people’s health. Nick justifies his own insistence that the freedom and individuality of each person is so important and valuable when the consumers spend money. Nick makes people to think that buying the cigarette is not an action that buying a harmful one, but an action that the consumers exercise their rights in choosing what they want and what to buy, and have their freedom. In other words, he emphasizes that the choice rests with people, who are consumers and also free individuals. It is an each consumer’s right and individuality that deciding whether buying a cigarette or not even if they already know that the cigarette is very harmful to their health and body. Especially, the United States is the country that focuses on freedom of individual, therefore this kind of issue is enough to be a controversial thing. In this movie, we could find the hidden side of the United States that highly regards one's individuality.
