Hamlet Performance Response

I thought that the most interesting aspect of the performance at the tank was the idea of having to separate scenes being shown at once. The effect is commonly used in music, with multiple melodies being played at once, but rarely with spoken word. It was hard for me to follow, but perhaps it would work better if the scenes were coordinated so that the dialogue overlapped less. I think there are interesting possibilities for using this effect. For example, a play could be written in which two groups of actors start out performing the same scene, but due to a minor difference in the actions of one of the characters, the scripts would gradually diverge, and the audience would be able to see how the characters react to different situations. Sort of like a play based around chaos theory.

here is another sketchup texture that I found that I did. I really enjoyed using sketchup this semester. being any major at StonyBrook we are forced to take so many pointless classes with the DEC requirements. But, sketchup is a tool that we learned in this class that we can use in our everyday lives for the rest of our lives. It is an easy program and if it werent for this class I would have probably never been exposed to it.

future

In class we talked a lot about what the future of the audience is. This is also the idea behind Saturday's performance. The idea is that the audience of the future will be more interactive, actually participating in what's going on onstage. I think this is an interesting idea, but one that may not work in all situations. I think in smaller-scale performances, the interactivity may work depending on the performance. But if you start applying this to larger-scale theaters, I do not think it would work. I just can't imagine action going on onstage while half the audience is looking at their phones working out that well. But it is definitely an interesting prospect that could lead to some great things.

kinect

By using kinect you can store photos and maybe edit them by using your own touch. This could be very good for photographers or just people who want to make there photos look better.

Using kinect can be very cool at times but to me I think it's very creepy. It's like a camera that follows you around- a security camera in many stores. If you taught it how to recognize objects, when you walk in the room would they say hi to you? To me, that is not necessary at all.
