Artist who grew 3rd ear on arm

Australian artist Stelios Arcadious had a 3rd ear implanted into his forearm. It took him 10 years to find a surgeon who was willing to do the surgery. I;m surprised he even found one at all.

New York

New York is in my opinion by far the greatest city in the world. People might say New Yorkers are cocky, but we have many reasons to be. And now that the Knicks are good again we have our sports pride back. The Knicks, Yankees, Jets & Giants are all top teams in their respective sports.

New York is the best city, and that's why people love to hate us. Whenever the yankees lose, almost every other city is happy about it. Think about the failure to sign Cliff Lee; everyone outside of New York is rubbing that in our faces. What they don't realize is that we don't care, the Yankees are still going to be one of the top teams in baseball. People will always hate the best because they are jealous.

The Tank

The tank appeared to me as a big depressing black box. The bathroom was just terrifying. When i walked downstairs i kept expecting Freddy Krueger to jump out of a corner and attack me.

What made the tank a better place was the quality of the actors there and the refreshments. The drinks served there were just what i needed after a 2 hour train ride from stony brook.

Surround Sound

After buying noise canceling headphones I looked into surround sound systems for my room. I never really cared for them, but after buying noise canceling headphones i started thinking about ways to improve audio quality from my tv. One of my roommates has surround sound in his room so i tested it out and it was amazing. I'm probably going to buy one within the next week.

Kinect

The Kinect for xbox 360 is much better than the Wii. It has the ability to incorporate your entire body into the game. You can even interact with fictional 3d characters. One example of this is Milo (shown below).

South Park

This show makes fun of everything. No race, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, religion or culture is safe. The writers even make fun of their own people. While many people find this show extremely offensive, others find it hilarious. It's been a big hit for over ten years now and it doesn't look like it's going anywhere any time soon. Recently they released an episode making fun of Jersey Shore, watch one episode of Jersey Shore and then watch this South Park episode.

Project Natal

Cool video on what can be done with the Kinect

Technology in Education

Computers have made education better. Now students can learn without necessarily being in the classroom. Blackboard and other websites allow students to read lecture slides without being present. Podcasts and other technologies allow professors to record themselves and post it online. Maybe one day all education will become distance learning. Hopefully that doesn't happen, human interaction is a vital part of molding a person.

Lebron James

How much more can people hate this guy? He completely destroyed the economy of his hometown, betrayed his people, and worst of all? He dragged all this out over a period of 2 months and announced it on a 1 hour espn special. The way which he announced his departure "Ill be taking my talents to South Beach" was just disrespectful. It's great though because now he's being ridiculed for it. After the Boston Celtics made the Miami Heat look like an amateur girls basketball team for the second time this season paul pierce tweeted "I showed my talents in south beach, now i'll be taking them to memphis".

Would all this have happened ten years ago? Without the twitters and smartphones would Lebron have ever thought to make an espn special? He probably would have, the only difference would be that less people would make fun of him due to the lack of a medium to do it through (facebook, twitter, youtube etc. )

Noise canceling headphones

I recently bought a pair of noise canceling headphones. They're absolutely worth buying. They really improve sound quality by blocking out all the background noise. I think they'd be perfect for air travel, I'll use them on my flight to pairs in two weeks.

SportsNation

ESPNs SportsNation is easily the best sports show on tv. It makes fun of everything that happens in the sports world. Ever since it came out I've been watching it. In addition to talking about sports it talks about weird web stories, and shows us videos of people doing useless things that just look cool.

Saturdays show

Just a few pictures i took before and after hamlet.

Minimalist design

I agree with some of the concepts of minimalist design. I don't want a house where everything is cluttered together, but i also don't want an empty house. On one hand you have too much on the other you have too little. The solution? For me it's best to have a good amount of things concealed. I'd like to have lots of space in my room, but i'd like a big closet where i could just throw everything else in.

RUR

the reading of RUR was more interesting than i thought it would be. It provoked me to think about how we are becoming more and more dependent on technology. While we're nowhere near capable of creating robots like those in RUR, we have succeeded in making ourselves dependent on things such as computers, tv, smart phones etc. I don't view this as a bad thing. The more tech, the better.

The Knicks

They're actually good this season. Now I've been a loyal fan through the tough times but the way they started this season made all of us doubt them. Now they're on an 8 game winning streak and are considered a lock for a playoff berth.

Hamlet

Surprisingly I never read Hamlet, so it was interesting for me to see part of the play on Saturday. I think it was really cool how we were able to control the background with our phones. One day this might be applied to a larger scale.

I took a few pictures of the scene

Cliff Lee

Cliff Lee signed with the Phillies today. People are comparing his big decision to Lebron james decision over the summer. I personally think Lee is a better person because he didn't hype up his decision, nor did he screw over his previous team. Lebron needed a 1 hour espn special to announce his decision, how stuck up can you be?

Snow

It finally snowed outside, but not enough. This makes me think about how true global warming is. I wish there was more snow outside right now. In previous years i loved to go sledding on campus and on the golf course right out the north entrance. Hopefully there will be enough snow to do that in the beginning of the next semester

Fake liquor

I went to an event at a catering hall the other day and i noticed that they have fake liquor. The jack daniels was clearly evan williams or ezra brooks, the black label was definitely not black label. I think it's ridiculous that people pay thousands of dollars to host events at such fancy catering halls and they serve them fake liquor.

Finals Week

Everybody is going crazy over finals. I'm not. Even though I'm taking 18 credits i only had one final and it was yesterday. What sucks about being the only one done with finals is that there's nothing to do. Everyones studying and i'm just really bored.
