No Pants Subway Ride 2011

So I've written about this before, Improv Everywhere, A group that basically performs comedy stunts at random places & random times. Anyways, coming up is what I would call their trademark stunt - January 9, 2011 - which they've been doing for a couple of years now in NYC. They started small but nowadays their followers are hundreds!

Essentially, random people at random subway stations start taking their pants off - Yes, they literally take their pants off, Girls & Guys - Acting as though it's nothing, they record the expressions of those around them. Eventually they all start traveling to the same destination in Manhattan, So if you're in the Subway that day, you start seeing more & more pant-less people! I actually think it's really funny. Something out of the ordinary routine. Especially to see the expressions of people around who have no idea what's going on. I also think this kind of 'performance' fits perfectly with this course, which seeks for new ways to grab people's attention

So it got me wondering, Would I do it? .. Would you do it?
anyways check the video!

The Tank Show

So here it is, the last part of my video series to the Hamlet show at the Tank this past weekend. Hope you guys enjoy it

**PART 1** **PART 2** **PART 3**

It was interesting seeing the show again. I thought that the Hamlet performance was by far the better one. Although I liked the RUR story, I thought it took too long - basically for a group of people to just sit in front of everyone & read the play? - Seeing that so many showed up at the place, I thought we could've used the time IN THE CITY a lot better. Maybe we could've done this part back at SBU? I was certainly a little disappointed to know that the reading took the better part of the two hours we spent there.

But nonetheless it was good/interesting to have a class & everyone show up in NYC. Have never done that before, so it was good for one of those "there's a first time for everything!". Could've been better? Sure but at least nothing 'went wrong'. I think it would've been cool too if the entire class had planned something afterward.. Like all show up at some restaurant/coffee place. Or maybe go to some event. Personally, I walked around a bit, shot some photos, Times square was packed of course, but I never really get tired of seeing it. All the lights, all the buzz. But then again with finals this week, spending half of your day there was probably good enough. Either way, I don't see why some people are upset that they had to go to the city and spend that time there.. its your Final! .. I wish my other finals were this easy/interesting. Not to mention we live next to one of the largest, most diverse, entertaining, alive & 'crazy' cities in the world! I know so many people would be thankful just to have any school project there.

Anyways, that's what Ii thought of the show. Again, I hope you enjoy 're-visiting' the performance with these videos. I'm mostly glad how they came out. And they're in HD! Since everything has to be in hd nowadays, I thought it was cool I could do that.

Virtual DJ

So we started working with this DJ program in class, which professor Baldwin introduced us to. And while I was familiar with other DJ software - Traktor, Scratch Live, etc - I've actually become really interested in this new software (VDJ). I think the best feature is the ability to mix videos the same way that you would mix songs. But also, I really like the way it does beat-matching and the effects. I'm no professional DJ or anything but I do have a little passion for DJing in me, like a good hobby per say. I haven't made money out of it but maybe in the future. For the most part, I just really enjoy mixing songs and creating good sounds. Anyways, here are some screenshots from experimenting with the software and others' textures

Hopefully there will be enough time & space to run a couple of projectors so everyone's work gets a chance. Anyways, here are some screenshots from experimenting with the software and others' textures

Kinect

Kinect for Xbox 360is a controller-free gaming and entertainment experience. Based around a webcam-style add-on peripheral for the Xbox 360 console, it enables users to control and interact with the Xbox 360 without the need to touch a game controller through a natural user interface using gestures, spoken commands, or presented objects and images. Looks really interesting take a look:
