Aaron D. Neufeld- BLOG #22- ‘What Makes Art?’
What makes art? Anything is art! Everything is art! Originally, art was thought of as drawings, paintings and sculptures. There were different types of paintings, using different tools to paint and color, just as there are different tools for drawing or sketching. Sculpting can be done with various tools and sculptures can be created from various elements from sandstone to glass!
However, in today’s modern world, art is so much more than any of that! Art today is anything and everything! Body art can be people expressing themselves on their own body or with their own body. An ancient screwdriver from hundreds of years ago made of wood can be looked at as art. Even more recent items that are still from another time, like cars or radios, or dishes from the first half of the 1900s can definitely be viewed as art. Interestingly enough, even brand new items can be viewed as art. Some items, even cooking wear, are created today to be more of a display then actually used, although it could be used.
