I feel like every day in our lives we take a risk. Every action has a consequence. Some might disagree with this statement, but then I ask what are we losing everyday of our lives that we cannot get back? Time. Every action we decide to take, time is lost. Therefore we are risking our time for every decision we make and every step we take. Our life depends on time. So life is equivalent to time, time is a gamble which makes life a gamble also. Think of it as a regular gamble, most people would use money or some item of value to gamble. In life we use time as the "item" of value to gamble. Time is more valuable than any currency or item because we cannot win time, we can only lose it.
This ties into everything play we have read because every drama that took place deals with the risks that the characters take. Whether it be in Oedipus Rex, where Oedipus takes the risk of finding out that he might've been the one to kill the king, even though he did not have to and save his own self, and sacrificed himself and his place in society for it. Or whether it be in Hamlet, where Hamlet takes the risk in trying to figure out the one who killed his father but could end up being punished for murdering Claudius. He is also risking time. Hamlet procrastinated and wasted a lot of his time trying to seek revenge for his father. And in Onibaba, the women take risks their lives everyday as they steal armor from the men at war.
