Aaron D. Neufeld- BLOG #36- ‘Move-tech’

I am personally incredibly excited for what the future of technology has in store for us. Just look back not even twenty years. Look how far we’ve come. Cell phones and the Internet alone were only recently introduced. Since then we have the birth of mobile-TV, Internet on the go, and more on blackberrys and smartphones, new interactive websites involving social media such as facebook, and the advent of the ipod, the macbook, video chatting, and other new portable devices.

Even this year we were treated to the introduction of the Kinect, a controller free gaming and entertainment experience that allows users to interact with their televisions but also allows their television to interact with users. Originally, gaming and technology was touch-sensitive. Desktop computers hooked up to modems allowed for Internet access, controllers hooked up to gaming devices allowed us to play, and telephones allowed us to speak to friends elsewhere. Then came laptops, wireless internet, wireless controllers, keyboards, mouses and cell phones. The next step is now—movement. Kinect simply sees movement and watches us. It can even see what we hold up to the screen and learn to recognize us. It can scan what we show it and show it back to us, registering everything. It is a mind of its own and a giant step in modern technology.
