Facebook addiction

I dont understand why people are so obsessed with Facebook. If you walk up to someone or see someone on a computer or their phone, they are more than likely going to be on facebook. People have become so addicted to it that they cant function without it. Some of my suitemates cant even study for their finals because they keep going on the site. I think the worst that Ive seen was one day when my building had a fire drill at 3:30 in the morning. I believe that at that exact time we were probably going down the stairs to go outside. The next morning when I check, one of my suitemates had her status as something like "stupid fire drill" and it said that she wrote it at 3:30am. That means that while everyone is rushing out of the building incase its a real fire, she is updating her facebook status! Yes I admit that I have a facebook but Im not addicted to it. The only reason that I got one in the first place is because you can no longer do anything without one. When I came to orientation for Stony Brook they said "you can find all this information on our facebook site." I was like "OMG fine" so I got one and even after getting one I still cant see why this is so addicting to some people and I guess I'll never find out.
