This is a picture of Pygmalion and Galatea. Pygmalion was a genius sculptor and made a beautiful piece of a beautiful young girl. Because the girl was so beatiful he fell in love with his own piece of work. He loved the girl so much and prayed to the god to give him a girl like this. The god knew the man was so desperate for her and decided to make his wish come true.
One day he kissed the cold sculpture and suddenly felt that she has a warmth on her lips. and the skin became soft -- she became a real human girl.
This story is one of the favorite stories from the Greek myths. At first, I thought it was only a romantic love story. But now I think it also symbolizes that we can get a great comfort from the pieces of art(literature, paintings, videoes and etc.). And also it tells us that what we write, make and produce, reflects our desire about something.
Although the romantic lovestory itself is attractive enough to make me stare at this picture for a long time. I think it's beautiful and cute.
