RUR and terminator part 2

If robots end up becoming sophisticated weapons, what can we do to protect ourselves? There are a few possibilities:

-International treaties could limit production much like how nuclear weapons are controlled. I think that this likely unfeasible because a robot in theory should require no special components beyond gears, computers, and other easily attainable parts.
-Behavioral laws could be built into a robots programming so that it cannot harm humans, like in the book I-Robot. This is also unfeasible because programs are easily reengineered- look at any new technology, it's usually hacked within a few days.
-What I think is the most likely scenario: robot production will be tightly regulated much like that of guns, but terrorist groups will always manage to get ahold of them anyway. When people decide to misuse them for harm, costly urban warfare will be the only counter measure.

and we're almost done

I can't believe the semester is almost over. I haven't written in a while but I did write down ideas in my phone about what to blog about so I'm definitely glad I thought of that.

Everyone seems to be floating away right now. I know finals are coming up and whatnot but still. I don't like that. My birthday just passed (finally 21... yay me.. but not really) and people I haven't talked to since middle school popped out of no where. It was nice in a way. Sadly, I was a kind of disappointed for my birthday but that is a whole other matter.

This has been quite an eventful semester and not in a very good way. I guess I just have to keep pushing forward, it could always be worse. Been there, done that.

Just a couple more weeks and I'll be done... only to start again for the winter semester. The fun never ends.

33? I really lost count.
