Living on Long Island you can see the contrast that has been happening for the past 20-30 years. Where I live there are houses that are still from when it was first built, but the house next to it would be fully renovated and just look out of place. 20-30 years ago, 25A was only a 2 lane road, and now it is 6-8 lanes. If you look at it 60 years ago there were still dirt paths where I live and farms all around it. What has changed and why? Not has changed since then. Most people are the same- gossip and beaches are still where we thrive.

What has changed is that we have become more materialistic. We now have our own mind and want to be different than anyone else and not have the "cookie-cutter" house. We have become more aware of design, and what is acceptable or not. We are moving in the right direction. More people just need to move forward and realize that our world is becoming something unique. We can make whatever we want out of our house. We don't need rectangular rooms anymore nor do we need to look like our neighbors. It's all in our hands.
