Mother Courage and Her Children

The Mother Courage and Her Children is the play about a certain woman who undergoes the war. The background of this play is Thirty years’ war(1618~1648), and it is composed by Bertolt Brecht. It shows the flow of time that the woman loses her children during the war in chronological order. Also it contains 12 scenes. The songs used in the Mother courage and her children play an important role of explanation. It is connected with the image of the woman who became corrupt morally during the war. There are a lot of wars all over the world. And people only concentrate the war itself or the hero of the war. However, this play focuses on the normal woman who lost her family. In that perspective, it is impressive and noticeable.
