Mother Courage

Mother Courage is based on Europe from 1624 to 1636, which is in the middle of thirty years' war. The main character, Anna Fierling lost her two sons and a daughter because she was such a greedy and opportunistic person. Her children died because of the war. Anna blames it on war but she sells stuff to soldiers. She wants the war going on because in that way, she could make profits and survive. She wants money from the war. But she is also the victim of the war. She has to grab a cart because she thinks that she is doing this for her children. But she actually supports the war if she keeps trading with soldiers. It is even sad that it was the reality for most people. They had no power to stop wars. People had to follow what government said because of their ignorance and powerlessness.
