Aaron D. Neufeld- BLOG #49- ‘Teleporting’
Although currently not very realistic, I often think about if we will be around in time for teleporting to exist. Or will this ever happen? Teleporting is something that has existed in science fiction in almost every futuristic film, television show, or novel since the dawn of time!
It has been depicted in various ways, from Star Trek having people teleport from room to room aboard spacecrafts, to X-Men’s Nighcrawler who has the mutant ability to teleport as long as he can envision the place he wants to appear in. Transporting matter is a pretty difficult but I’m sure with the way technology is advancing, they’ll figure it out soon enough. Perhaps teleporting will begin once the world population begins to become hermits and everyone stays at home ordering everything on-demand from entertainment, to food and everyone works from home and communicates via video chats.
Once that happens, teleporting will come around to get people to leave their homes once more and socialize in the public sphere. But I don’t know how successful even that would be. People would just be teleporting place to place. Nobody will linger anywhere to hang out with friends or family. They’ll teleport one place, do what needs to be done, and then leave. But I’m getting too technical. I want to use a teleporting machine! Haha.
