Juniorette?

There are a lot of interesting conversations that take place in my suite. I live on campus with my friends in the same room, and we all procrastinate and in doing so we tend to engage in crazy conversations. Early today, we were brainstorming baby names for our future kids (apparently something that we do a lot) and I thought of the idea of why there is a junior for a boy with the same name as his father, but if a girl has the same name as her mother, there is no suffix. I honestly don't know why that is. The only thing i can come up with is that we live in a patriarchal society and it was just a way for men to maintain some type of status.
