materialism and women

I think it's kind of ironic that women are often expected to look and act a certain way but then we're ridiculed because we're materialistic. I'm just thinking about my recent sephora order...

By society's standards women are "supposed to" look put together. Not that hoodies and sweat pants don't have a special place in my heart, I generally will not go out in them unless I'm going to school. Anyway, looking put together costs $$$. In the end it can cost quite a lot. So while some people can complain that women spend too much time at the mall or spend too much money on clothes... they seem to forget that if we didn't looking put together would more difficult.

While I hate shopping for hours on end I know sometimes it's necessary and I'll dig out my conformable shoes and go on a mission to find what I need.

And what's so terrible about enjoying nice things? As long as we're not buying out a store or going crazy and it's our money, shhhh.

So..

Dear Men,
I'm sorry we cannot always roll out of bed and just look fabulous. Spending longer in the bathroom is sometimes necessary to look the way we do. You really have to deal with it. I promise it'll be worth it so hush. Stop complaining about the time we spend at the mall or the time we spend talking to our friends about that one pair of shoes that may or may not go with that outfit. Do not look horrified when you first look in our vanity and find a million tiny jars or tubes, they have a purpose just don't touch or they'll all just fall out. Oh yeah, we like shiny stuff, a lot of guys don't get that yet so lucky you. I'm sure there's more but where's the fun in actually telling you stuff... you guys can read minds right?
