To what was said earleir about the atrocity of hip hop...

To all you who keep putting down rap as if it's not legitamte,

I agree with your take on the hip-hop issue, and I believe it to be damaging not only to black America, but to people world-wide. It is true that teenagers around the globe are watching the atrocities that are seen in almost every contemporary hip-hop music video. It seems like you can go anywhere and find someone wearing a shirt with a picture of Biggie Smalls holding an AK-47.
On the other hand, one could say that the power of hip-hop is beneficial, as it is our freedom to speak our minds, no matter how disagreeable our thoughts might be. Often, the most memorable works of art are controversial, and often leave the observer thinking.
To help solve the problem, we as individuals can choose to refuse listening to hip-hop with any lyrics promoting violence. We have the ability to monitor what we watch; nobody forces us to listen to hip-hop. By taking control over what we see and hear, we can move forward and not have to worry about being influenced by the negativity of modern hip-hop
