What is it with white people wanting to be black and black people wanting to be asian?

I'm sure we're all familiar with white people being attracted to hip hop culture, among other forms of African American culture
But I've also noticed that there are a great deal of black people who are attracted to asian culture.
Take wu-tang clan for instance. As if their group title isnt enough, their albums illustrate anime style characters and they even rap about asian styled themes.
Even the adult swim television show, while mainly orchestrated by African Americans, is also anime styled and features many allusions and references towards asian culture.
Has anyone else picked up on this? What do you think is the reasoning behind it?
