Last bit of Chaplin admiration
If any of you know a thing or two about Chaplin's city lights, you would know that it was initially a surprise hit at the box office. People gave Chaplin a chance due to his prior fame and ended up loving his silent film even though it was the only one of its kind that year. Even with the success of Chaplin’s new film, many audience members were still annoyed that Chaplin was still making silent films. People who had never heard him speak began to allege that he couldn't make a talking film because he had a grotesque voice. In his last silent film featuring The Tramp, Modern Times (1936), he disapproved the change.
