The whole Tank experience
When starting the class, Professor Baldwin always was talking about this 'end gig' and that we go through the semester kind of on auto pilot but at the end of the term, a light bulb goes off and we get it. To be honest, I didn't get that same experience but coming out of this, I don't feel completely ignorant. I really appreciated the way we discussed real life issues and translated drama in plays and applied it to our current situations. Something that stuck with me from class, is the idea that a lot of people way for the jobs to be given to them. Or they work hard to achieve an already existing career, when in reality it doesn't have to be that way. If something isn't what you're looking for, why not create it?

who else does that
I have two friends who recently got broken with their boyfriends. One of them was cheating another one was 'no reason'. I don't know how much that hurt, but it seems like a lot of damage. They can't stop crying. The 'no reason' one was my roommate, and her boyfriend was gone to far away (16 hours to flight) for his new job, and after she sent all his stuff and finally, right after she sent his honda accord, he said something like 'we are not meant to be together, we are heading different direction'. Then what about all those times? They were together for over 3 years!! And another one, cheating, was more freaking. They were together for a year, and the guy was seeing another girl for 10 months at the same time. He said that he love her every night, and he was SO sweet to her. Who does that? It will be hard for those poor girls to meet somebody else. I keep tell them to forget what happened and move on, but it seems like it's really difficult for them to move on. I think there can't be a single reasonable excuse for those guys. What they have done to my friends is a crime.
Last bit of Chaplin admiration
If any of you know a thing or two about Chaplin's city lights, you would know that it was initially a surprise hit at the box office. People gave Chaplin a chance due to his prior fame and ended up loving his silent film even though it was the only one of its kind that year. Even with the success of Chaplin’s new film, many audience members were still annoyed that Chaplin was still making silent films. People who had never heard him speak began to allege that he couldn't make a talking film because he had a grotesque voice. In his last silent film featuring The Tramp, Modern Times (1936), he disapproved the change.

Long day
Today was a very stressful and long day. I've been locked up in the library studying for 9 hours straight. I have a Philosophy midterm later today and my brain hurts from all the reading I had to do. Socrates's philosophy does interest me though. He challenges everyone's beliefs and shows everyone how ignorant they really are on what they claim to know. Socrates's is wise enough to see his own ignorance. He basically challenges people's thoughts and guides them into finding the truth. The concept of morality and virtue is mentioned a lot and it becomes mind boggling thinking about a definition for these. Is there a universal definition for what's right or wrong? We can certainly see that different people and different religions have different rules for what is right or wrong, but is there a universal definition? Socrates believes there exists something, but we still haven't discovered it yet.
Well, I haven't eaten or taken a break yet. I also really need to finish up the room and theater space design. Time to work...

Flash Rave
Who was in it last year? I think it should happen again, it should become an annual tradition every spring before the midnight breakfast. For those of you that don't know what I'm talking about here's a link.

The Obscure Analysis of Social Networking Personal Images
Full image of the chart can be found here since it's far too large to post.
So, how accurate does that look? I mean, obviously some of the generalizations are there for comedic purposes, but...for the most part, I'm going to have to agree with the majority of it (come on, the "Angles" section is spot-on!). I posted this image specifically because it was upon viewing it that I came to the realization that humans love to analyze things. From literature to history to now even pictures, we tend to scrutinize the smallest details and sometimes blow them directly out of proportion. In this particular chart-- and let me remind you yet again that I am well aware it was made semi-sarcastically-- they make bold generalizations as to what the mentality or physical appearance of someone seems like based on what part of their body is shown in their Facebook profile picture and how they've cropped and edited it. Does it offend people? I don't see why it shouldn't strike a few people as inappropriate...but then again, if it were more serious, it'd probably be a bigger dilemma.

Plan for my future
What I am going to do after one year from now? This is one of my worries these days. I plan to graduate this university next spring semester. After that, I want to get a job, of course. However, I’m not sure that I will be able to get a job in the U.S as an international student. It’s more difficult to find it. If I couldn’t get a job and do anything here, I have to go back to Korea.
Someday, I will go back to Korea. I’m not going to live here forever. That’s what I want to do, and my parents want to do. My parents keep asking me when you will graduate the university. I think they want me to come back to Korea as soon as possible. I know I have to spend a lot of money for studying abroad, so my parents are worried about keep spending money for my education. But that’s not what I really want to go back to Korea after graduating.
I usually make my plan for my future. I used to do it, but I’m not sure everything now, so I don’t even want to think about my future these days. There are so many things to be concerned about. I keep asking myself ‘Should I delay my graduation from here?’, ‘what is really I wanted to do?’ or ‘Can I get a job or intern in the U.S.?’ I know I am silly and stupid about trying to avoid my reality now.
