RUR Reading

The RUR reading, done by the theater majors during the gig at the Tank, was pretty interesting.

Even though they were only using their voices, I still got the feeling of the whole play.
The parts that are supposed to be funny, or scary, or serious, or whatever else, were what they were supposed to be.

I guess that is the difference between someone who is just interested and someone who loves the whole concept of being an actor.

So basically, RUR is about the future, where robots become just like humans, and at times, more than just human.

This reminds me of the movie I, Robot.
It's pretty much the same concept, just put into film.
This topic is also used in a few anime shows that I have watched before.

With technology improving more and more, it's a wonder none of us are robots yet.
Sure, people have robot parts attached to them because of certain circumstances that they were in, but none of us are yet 100% robot.

To be totally honest, I'm not looking forward to our future.
What would happen if everything was done by robots?
How would we learn how to take care of ourselves without the help of robots?
How would we learn to be human if we are taught by robots?

What if I liked the way that we are today?
What if I didn't want the world to change into something cold and metal?

why

do we need to write the word verification down there everytime we write this thing? it's already annoying enough to write this. now i'm so dizzy so i can't even read that word correctly. it's just so stupid. what is the point to type that word verification every single time? all these small things make me upset at this point. i might need to get a med for mental disorder or something if i need to keep this kind of life for longer period of time

Shinsegae

I remember that the Macy's on the 34th st Manhattan used to advertise their store as "The biggest department store in the world". It was actually the biggest one in the world listed on "Guinness World Records" until 2008. Not anymore. The biggest one is Shinsegae department store in Busan.
They have many branches and try to expand their business. They made Haeundae Shinsegae store in 2008 and it is really luxurious and huge. There are basically everything you need in one building. It includes Kyobo bookstore, huge iceskating field, the movie theater including the most biggest Imax theater in Asia, huge golf field, most luxurious gym which cost some 100,000s US dollar to join the membership, natural spring spa+jimjilbang, etc. The building itself is so huge that interior is no longer cramped as the other department stores. So it makes people easier to shop and carry their bags. If I go there at 9am in the morning, I can stay in that building until it closes at 10pm at night because there are so many things to do.
I can't memtion everything about this store in this blog but I recommend people to go there if they come to Busan. The picture here is what Ive taken in the jimjilbang called Spaland and the top of building

Setting up the final

The day of the final we all got there and started setting things up. Once we started plugging in all the projectors, laptops, cables, etc. the final project actually became a real thing. Up until that point it was just something we had talked about, something we had only planed. Now it was finally a real thing and we were going to be able to show everyone what we had done the entire semester. It was a good feeling setting everything up and getting it to work the way it was supposed to. Luckily there wasn't any major malfunctions with our electronics and the plays went relatively smoothly.

Con artist

I think each and every one of us actually con people on a daily basis. I vaguely remember an interview at the beginning of class with Nase and Prof. Baldwin. They were talking about games and how Nase was playing a game with Prof. Baldwin.
Nase did not read the play we were supposed to read and Giselle exclaimed that Nase was good at playing the game with Prof. Baldwin because you couldn’t see it in his face and he didn’t seem nervous at all. In truth, Nase was good at the game and was in fact a good con artist.
In truth we all con people. For instance, in class we discussed how customers con people who work pink collar jobs. In reality this is a completely valid statement. I have had many experiences at my job-Whole Foods- in which people try to return products that are almost completely eaten and say that the food the purchased was expired or went bad. The thing that upsets me the most is that we actually give the customers their money back as if it is a reward for their cunning ways. So, do we really reward con artists in society?
