Blog number 50

Well heres my 50th blog. Before this class, I would have never thought I would keep a blog but here I am, blogging. Blogging for this class has been so fun. I know I will come back and read all my blogs one day. I learned that I should keep a blog because many job offers may ask if I keep a blog. I am now determined to keep my own blog in the future and this wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for this class and this blog. I would like to share a song and a last picture from the Tank with my last blog. Goodbye!

Theatre 103

This course has taught me a lot of things that I would never learn from any other course. One thing is that the Professor is not like any other. There are no textbooks, exams, or quizzes in this class which is a great thing. Professor Baldwin encourages that we interact with the other students in the class and he wants us to talk in class. Many if not all of my classes here in Stony Brook include about hundreds of kids and there is never any face time with the professor. This class is different. Also, I have many tools and skills that can help me find a good job in the future. Not one of my teachers encourage me to stay away form pink collar jobs as much as Professor Baldwin. This course provided me with a great experience and a set of skills that I can use in the future.

Retainers

I have been wearing retainers for about two and a half years and next year I will be able to stop. I had to get braces when I was a freshmen in high school. I had them on since the middle of junior year on high school. It seems so long ago. I forget the feeling of having braces on my teeth now. The amount of times I would have to wear retainers declined over time. I would have to wear them every night when I first got my braces off. Every night then changed to every two nights. Every two nights changed to a few times a week. And a few times a week changed to where I'm at now and that is once a week. The only problem I have with wearing retainers once a week is that when i wake up, I feel my teeth hurt. Once next year comes, retainers and braces will just be a childhood memory.

The Fighter

I recently watched a trailer for a new movie that has come out already. The movie is The Fighter and it depicts the life of professional boxer Micky Ward. The film looks great and I want to see it. It reminds of The Wrestler or another Rocky movie. I love fighting movies and I hope this one does not disappoint. Here's the trailer:

Miami Heat

The biggest thing during the summer about basketball, was the fact that the Miami Heat landed two superstars on the team. Dwayne Wade was already a member of the team, but free agency allowed them to sign both, Lebron James and Chris Bosh. There has been a lot of controversy about Lebron James and his hour long televised decision on what to do over the summer. Many people have come to hate Lebron, but I've always been a fan and always will be. He is a phenomenal basketball player and will be one of the all time greats. Many critics have called the team a fluke because during the beginning of they season, they did not live up to the hype. They started the season a bit rocky, but now that the team has figure out how to mesh together, they're great. The team is on a 9 game winning streak and they've proved that they're a force to be wrecking with. A few of the blogs have been about hate on Lebron, but heres a blog from a Lebron fan.

slow motion

I have come to love slow motion pictures/videos. Slow motion water videos are especially neat because they also show the texture in the water. This video that I found demonstrates a glass cube falling in water.

Textures

Here are some textures that I took. Enjoy!

Hamlet video

Here is a video of the scene with Hamlet and Ophellia. I should have took more videos. Enjoy this one video!

Outsourced

The idea of working overseas is shown through this show that I watch. The show is about an American novelties company that has been outsourced to India. The main character of the show, Todd Demsey, has to manage his company with new Indian workers. Throughout the show he learns about the Indian culture and participates in a lot of activities with his employees. The employees also have to learn about the American culture to sell the company's merchandise. If I was to ever work overseas, I believe my experience would be quite similar to this show. I would have to learn a lot about the new country's culture and I can also share my experiences back in America with my employees.

The Town

I recently watched this movie and thought it was great. I did not expect much from this movie, but it turned out pretty good. It's about the city of Charlestown and how that city has the most bank and armored truck compared to around the world. A group of four guys rob a bank all in masks and escape with loads of cash. However, they take hostage one of the witnesses and she reports the kidnap to the police. Afraid of what could happen, one of the robbers decides to take care of the situation. He ends up getting to know the hostage and the two end up in a relationship. She does not know that the guy she is with took her hostage, but she later does find out. The ending to the movie is pretty sick. Im not going to give anything away, so you should watch this movie!

PS3 Move

While searching up the Kinect, I stumbled upon the PS3 move. I never heard of it until now. The PS3 move came out before the Kinect and it seems like a mix of the Kinect and Wii together. There are controllers like the Wii, but the interaction is similar to the Kinect. There is webcam action, something that the Wii does not have. The graphics on the Move look awesome, might be a little better than the Kinect. Heres a video, check it out.

Full Tilt Poker

I find myself addicted to Full Tilt Poker. Full Tilt Poker is an online poker card room where you can play with people all around the world. It is the second largest, behind Pokerstars. I love playing poker, but this addiction really got the best of me recently. I started out by putting in $20 on my account. In a matter of hours I watched my bankroll soar to almost $120. This is great because I have made 100 dollars in a few hours of playing. I could have cashed out and wait for a check to come in the mail, but I wanted to win more. I waited a day to start playing and guess what? I lost it all. When I finally saw zero dollars on my account, I was stunned. The same time I made $100, I lost all of it twice as fast. This experience has taught me not to do the same thing again. Next time I make enough to cash out online, I will cash out.

Hamlet 3

Here are the rest of the pictures I took from the Tank. I had a great time at the gig, hope everyone else did too. Enjoy!

Hamlet 2

I really enjoyed this scene at the Tank. I think these two did a wonderful job. The guy pulled off a great diabolical persona and used his props really well. Ophelia also did a great job acting.

Hamlet

The actors that were performing Hamlet were great. You can tell they really practiced for the show and put great effort into memorizing their lines. There was so much passion and great acting on the stage. Hope you enjoy these pictures I took!

R.U.R

I only got one picture of the graduate students reading R.U.R. I was sitting on the steps so my other pictures didn't cover the whole cast. Hope you enjoy the picture!

The Tank

Our show at the Tank was great. It truly interactive. The audience was a part of the show by commanding the projections in the background. Our show will bring forth this idea of audience interaction to the general public. We will probably see more shows like ours in the future. Before the show, I assumed the space would have been big and able to fit a good amount of people. When I got there, I was surprised at how compact it was. I had to sit on the steps of the stage because there were no more seats. The two acts were great and the night was a true success.

Smart Phone Applications

We discussed a lot about smart phone applications in class. One of the students in class even made his own application called TouchOSC. With this app, members of the audience at the Tank were able to control the films at the gig. Kik Messenger is a nice application to have on your phone. It is a way of communicating between smart phones. For example, Blackberrys have Blackberry Messenger. Kik Messenger is just like that, but it can be used with all smart phones. Another application professor had us download was Bump. With bump, one can transfer data by fist bumping his/her phone with someone else. This application only works for androids and iphones.

An interesting app for people to have is Where. This application helps you find nearby restaurants, libraries, stores, movie theaters, etc. When you click on the application, it automatically knows your location and helps you find places near you. This is a really convenient application to have.

Kinect Hack

This is a cool video of a man using two Kinect cameras. Check it out.

Working Overseas

The idea of working overseas before this class never struck my mind. I would have told you that I would never consider working overseas because it is a scary thought. Now that I have taken Theatre 103 and listened to all Professor Baldwin has said, I will definitely consider working overseas in the future. Professor has told us that there are so many opportunities overseas and so much money that one can make. Working overseas can help me with traveling also. I always wanted to travel to countries like Korea, Thailand, and Spain. If I ever get a chance to work overseas I will definitely thank Professor Baldwin for gearing me toward that direction.
