how does the world just keep moving on?

Today is going to be my first day back at school. I cannot believe I have to sit in class and pretend like everything is fine, I simply don't understand how to make myself go through the motions. My father passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2010. Cancer took him from me. My mother keeps telling me to take comfort in the fact that he had no pain and was very lucky to be able to be able to not suffer as so many other people do. I miss you dad, and i love you so much. I cannot understand, comprehend, imagine or accept that my father is gone. I have nothing else to say, except that I'm just trying to keep it all together and get through these next two weeks. I know he wouldn't want me to mess up my hard earned grades this semester- to him education was the most important thing. I can't believe I'm sharing such personal things here, but I have nothing else I could possibly think of to say for now. I love you dad, and I hope you're in a better place. House of Games

In class we saw half of the movie House of Games. My overall reaction to half of the movie is that it is a great movie. At first, we are introduced to the main character, which is a woman who seems to be a robot. She is blunt and indifferent, as a fan asked for her autograph on her book that she wrote. At first I though she was just a know it all as she was helping out her female patient and that she didn't really care about her patient. However that changed as she looked like she actually does care about her patient when the patient was desperate enough to kill himself if no one helps him as he owed someone thousands of dollars.

She actually went to the person to try to clear his debt away but almost got sucked into a con. The boss was going to get rid of the debt if she helped him win a poker hand against a person that kept on playing with his ring when he is bluffing. She agreed and did what she was told but it wrong and lost a 6,000 dollar hand. The winner of the hand threatened them by taking out his gun and said he was going to shoot them. She was about to write a check but saw the gun was fake as it was a water gun and found out it was con. From there on she was amazed about the art of con and asked to be taught. This was an interesting movie because here is a successful woman and she is amused and wants to learn more about conartists. Also it was interesting how it was all planned out from the patient to the poker game to where we ended.

Audiences Welcome...

What is an audience these days? Back then an audience would be defined as a large group of people getting together to witness some sort of spectacle. However, today, an audience has become much more than that, in a way, it has become more complicated. With our world expanding, and technology taking over, audience now seems to be consumed by technology, like most things in society today. In the past, individuals who called an audience together used to be able to see the audience, and interact with them. however, because of the availability of technology, audiences are able to hide behind their computers, in a pair of sweatpants and a bowl of ice cream and enjoy the show. The audience no longer needs to spend hours getting ready, get a whole bunch of people together, spend money on an elaborate fancy dinner, in contemporary society, it has become much simpler, and much more convenient. However, can this have negative effects as well? What will happen to those that put on the show? Will they be able to perform as well without an audience there to cheer them on? Such changes have taken a massive tole on our society socially. individuals are interacting with each other less and less and have lost the meaning of words. Will this ever changed or is our society doomed for the future?
