concept of torture

Last week we had a discussion in class about torture. Professor Baldwin told us about a pill that is used to paralyze someone for one hour while their heart beats at different paces. In my opinion, torture is the worst thing that could possibly be done to someone in this world. Torture is sometimes attempted to be justified in the sense that it is used to get information about of someone. I don't see torture as ever being justified. It scares me how the minds of some of the people in society can be so twisted to even come up with the idea of torture.
