Facebook is the Devil ctd.

So recently, a bunch of my friends deactivated their Facebook. I've done for a whole summer, and for me it was an extremely relieving process. It was always waiting for me, but after a few weeks, I won the struggle within myself to sign on when I was bored. I found things for me to do so that I wouldn't be in that boring position. Some people do it just to prove to themselves that they can. I'm ashamed to say, that in between thoughts while I'm writing this blog, I'm checking my facebook, even though I'm not sure I'm going to find anything good at 4am. The whole concept of networking is great, but isn't it time for people to start being productive again? America is all about getting results the fast and easy way, as if that ever works. Life wasn't made like that, it's like a see-saw. With every up, there is a down. I suppose facebook will never die, and not that i want it to, because I'm just as addicted to it as the next college student, but that in excess cannot be good.

junk food

Okay, it's been over 3 years since I came to the US, but I haven't eaten a real american food that made me feel 'wow'. There are 4 things I really miss; my family, friends, internet speed, and the restaurants in Korea. It's really frustrating when I'm starving because there's nothing that'll make me satisfied. Campus dining is even worse, so I try not to buy any food on campus, but it's hard when I have classes until 6pm. But honestly, there is nothing I want to eat on campus and I don't understand how dare they want our money for 'those' foods. when I was in Korea, there were hundreds of choices of restarants around school zone. The only thought that made me happy was a lunch time. However, it's a whole different story in here. Other than salad and yogurt, everything in SAC, Union, and Wang is a lump of fat. Those foods gave me about 20 pounds for 3 years. I'm really mad at those foods, but I don't have any choice. Salads are not fresh at all, and yogurt are not delicious at all. And worse than that, after I eat all those fats, I'm still hungry.

Just learned some more about my favorite director..

...Charlie Chaplin. Even after disproving the critics' claims that he didn't want to reveal his voice, commentators believed he simply just couldn't make a talking film. In a more modern sense, people would consider it like Alfred Hitchcock only being able to make suspense films. In 1940, these skeptics were once again proven wrong when Chaplin directed and played the lead in The Great Dictator, which featured his first talking character. Thirteen years after Hollywood abandoned silent films and switched to talking, Chaplin decided to give it a try. It was evident that he didn't do it for the skeptics. It was simply because Modern Times brought closure to The Tramp character, and to make another film featuring The Tramp wouldn't make sense any more. The Great Dictator was nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actor in a Leading Role, Charlie Chaplin. His true talent as a director was revealed, and people began to see him beyond his silent film talents.

Screensaver

Took a video of my screensaver and added some effect using windows movie maker. The screensaver itself though is trippy to look at without any added effects...

First Impressions

My minimal work with SketchUp thus far has actually left me pretty impressed. I have yet to actually save a museum design (I've been messing around a lot more than constructing), but I feel like knowing my way around the program comfortably could be really fun. It seems a lot like Photoshop with another added dimension (no big deal, right?); thus, all the things I've wanted to do to give my works more depth in the past can finally be achieved.

I worked extensively with Photoshop during high school, but I always thought it was more or less limiting for certain projects. And while SketchUp is essentially geared towards things like architecture and design, it more than covers for all the shortcomings of Photoshop for those categories. I'd definitely love to work with this as Professor Baldwin says he has: sitting down with a client and editing their requested work to fit their standards more clearly as they explain what they want modified.

Time to mess around some more!

Live alone

I was not an independent person. I used to live with my parents till I was in high school, so I pretty rely on my parents. However, since I’ve come to the United States for studying, I feel that I could become more independent person than before by living separated from my family. It is common for most of Americans to live alone after people graduate the high school. But in Korea, most of people live with their family before they get married.

At first time, living alone in different country was really hard time for me. I missed my family, my friends, and my country. I also have to do all of things by myself. There’s nobody who support me and give me advice for making from small to big decisions. As I went through by myself, I realized how I depended too much on my parents before.

Now I believe that one of good things of studying abroad is being apart with my parents. I could be more decisive, independent and mature person. And I’m pretty used to live alone and it’s more comfortable, so I want to live separately after I am going back to Korea.
