3D touchable holograms

so while searching for projector technology for the surgeries i came across holograms which led me to find that Japanese scientist invented touchable holograms using ultrasonic sound in 2009. They plan on using it for light switches and books. Those do seem like practical uses but i think technology like that can be used in much better ways.
