Appeal For Approval

Ever since I was little I always looked for approval. Whether it was on the field hockey field or on the stage while I danced, afterwards I'd always go to my coach, instructor, or parents and ask how I did. If they said I did okay, I'd literally practice for hours until I was up to perfection. I think everyone does this, whether they keep it to themselves and critique themselves, or if they ask everyone around them they're still looking for appreciation.

Even as I get older, when I get a good grade, I call my parents and tell them how I did. When I watch my brother play soccer, when he scores a goal or makes a good pass, he'll look back at the stands and smile. If he falls or doesn't do well, he looks back as though asking for punishment.

This happens globally throughout the world and passes on to our next generations. Whether you're doing a simple task or making a new video game everyone looks for approval or appreciation.
