Desires & guilt
In the film Onibaba, it talks about two woman, a mother and a daughter-in-law that lives together trying to survive by killing samurai and taking their possessions without men in their life. Due to the fact that the two women are living without a single man in their life to help out, they are both came to realization they need to do stand up for themselves and try to find ways to survive. Both women came to a realization on their desires and needs, the desires and needs for food, survival and sex. Without a single male in their life, both women have struggled through life trying to seek for every single opportunity they can get. Survival and sex seems to be the bigger issue in a woman's life and can't really be controlled by their own conscious. In the film Onibaba, the daughter-in-law fiends for sexual activities and end up going for her dead husband's friend to satisfy her needs. In terms like this, it shows how men can be extremely powerful&important in a women's life because without a man in their life, woman endures lots of struggles and energy to satisfy themselves with food and happiness.
