Laertes Alpha male?
While reading the play Hamlet, Laertes came off to me as somewhat of an alpha male. However, after watching the film version of Hamlet (Mel Gibson version), my mind about Laertes as an alpha male changed. Laertes "tried" to be an alpha male, however came short. I believe that his role as an alpha male came along after his fathers death. He, like Hamlet believes that he has to avenge his fathers death. However, Laertes is also upset because his sister Ophelia was going mad and ended up falling to her death. This Laertes also blamed on Hamlet.
Laertes is now upset and tries to avenge the death of his father and sister by killing Hamlet. This he tries to do with poison. He plans to poison Hamlet in a sword fight so that way he dies.
