The most difficult to understand about the Oedipus is how he falls in love with his own Mother and ended up sharing the bed together. For us it is sounds so awkward and strange to think about to have that butterfly feelings for your own mom/dad. But when I see many friends around who pick their guys/girls who are just like their dad/mom. Is it because we love our dad/mom that way, or are we so used to them?
I don’t think it is our genetic that forces gradually us to pick boyfriends/ girlfriends who alike our dad/mom, but because the first man/woman of our lives were our parents. We are so used to them, if we find someone who are 180 degree different than our parents, the uncomfortable feeling arouses from us.
Surprisingly, the past few boyfriends that I have been with had similarities with my dad. They words that they use, personalities, appearances, habits, and hobbies were very much alike. At that time I didn’t know that they were alike to my dad, but without realizing it I was more into the guys who are like my dad. It seems like the new modern Oedipus rule still alives in us.
