Reaction for Ophelia-- Hamlet

I've watched the movie Hamlet all over again but this time the recent movie with David Tennant in it. My thought toward Ophelia is that she seems to be the type of woman whose afraid to lose something special and in order to feel as if she can continue on to keep what she want, she has to sacrifice something important. I can really understand what Ophelia is going through and the character she is. In reality, in order to receive something worth having, you tend to sacrifice another thing that is significant to you. In the movie, Ophelia sacrificed her life as a virgin and gave it to Hamlet. I believe this is absolutely the wrong move... If this was to be someone I know, or based on reality, I feel like it is not worth giving up your virginity to a guy just to keep him. NOT SAYING I AM AGAINST HER LOSING HER VIRGINITY but just I'm just looking at her character with my own point of view-- If the guy is worth having, he'll eventually be yours--though you MIGHT need to sacrifice yourself or change yourself for a healthy relationship.
