Creativity

I guess when it come to creativity it has to do with ones personal push to do soemthing novel. When you are a kid your creativity can be seen through your artwork such as finger-painting or through the games you invent while playing with your friends. As we grow though our creativity seems to be more and more locked into a social box, where we can dream and try to do something new but only within the constraints of our respective society/culture.

As we discussed breifly those who are in power and control what is hip and popular seldom like for new ideas to magically appear from the average person. Then they would have to share a piece of the pie. With the dawn of the information age though it is becoming easier for some random person to bring their ideas to fruition. This clearly doesnt sit well with corporation and private entities that have been fighting tooth and nail to keep the old school concept of intellectual property alive.

Now though there seems to be a strong push by many people who feel that its time for everyone to enjoy the benefits that the rich have. Thats why many expensive programs are either being cracked or completely rebuilt and redesigned and given away for free. My little cousin who is 13 uses his Mac and iphone like a programmer would 10 years ago on PCs.

We dont all need to go to Bard College to expereince a creative awakening. I visted some friends there. Let me say its not about the college its about the money. Those kids are hipsters in the woods. They do what they want because they pay 50+ thousand. If you are surounded with money from birth and then go to a college flooded with money. The connections you make for life in the future basically lead you into a path filled with money.

The true creative people are the ones that come to Stony Brook and community colleges and are able to make something of themselves, without mommy and daddy paying for everything and setting up job interviews at their friends business in the city.
