If the play was about Horatio, I think it would be a lot more interesting. Well, let me rephrase that. If it was Horatio's father that had been killed by his uncle, the play would have been more interesting. In one of my earlier posts I called Hamlet a coward. Horatio is far from a coward. He is a man of action and I think this would have led to a more interesting story instead of whiny Hamlet.
There may be less drama involved if Horatio was the protagonist. This may not be a bad thing, though. I personally am a fan of action. Its very exciting to see the hero that you are rooting for pull through in the end. Since it is a tragedy and everyone will die, Horatio would have to die in the end, so there will be some drama there
