Hip Hop
Yesterday we briefly touched on the topic of Hip Hop music in class. Despite what many people think, not all Hip Hop music is "bad." Some Hip Hop songs are pure art. Society has this vision about the Hip Hop game because of the 50 Cents and the Soulja Boys, that either rap about crime or simply cannot rap at all. However, some artists truly create masterpieces. Whether they're writing lyrics or creating a beat, its still impressive. I have so much respect for artists who go into a studio at midnight with an idea, and by 8 am they have, not only a beat (which is incredible in and of itself), but also lyrics. See I'm not a big fan of Kanye West as a person, but Kanye West the artist, is truly gifted. Many Hip Hop artists either produce beats or rap, but he is one of the very few that produce their own music and rap over it as well. I believe his beats are true art. He doesn't scratch the beat to much or rely on heavy bass like most Hip Hop artists. He actually incorporates clean instruments, maybe a piano, then a violin here and there...sometimes even a cello or an organ. This keep sthe music grounded and doesn't let it stray to far from what it really is...MUSIC...ART. The combination of all the instruments he uses in songs makes it feel as though he is rapping alongside an orchestra, which not only creates a profound musical effect but it also keeps his music clean and classy
