Language

Language is something that we use every day, it is the basis to our society and how we interact with everyone around us. It seems as through from last class, many argue that language in our society is beginning to diminish in value and people are beginning to become less and less aware of what they are saying. I agree and disagree.

I have a strange view on the topic; I feel that people aren’t necessarily becoming less aware of what they are saying, but they are becoming lazy in how they say it. To be honest, sometimes I curse just because it’s easier to get my point across to someone. I recall a student in class yesterday saying that there really isn’t a better way to show your point without cursing. I completely disagree with that comment. There is an entire dictionary with words that many of us don’t even know about. In truth we are too lazy to pick up that dictionary and search through to find the exact word we need to express what we feel. We resort to juvenile behavior when cursing. It is kind of like expressing how we feel in the simplest terms possible.
